    Finding Real Answers

    May 12th, 2008

We often turn to others for advice and wisdom when faced with a dilemma, but sometimes  we get a great variety of answers and end up feeling more lost and confused than before. A friend of mine named Simon one day was having trouble with his girlfriend and wasn’t sure anymore if he wanted to continue the relationship. He called up all his friends, one by one, and explained in great vigor his situation. Each of his friends gave him a different answer, and by the end of the day, Simon was so confused that he admitted feeling more lost than before.

Simon could have avoided all this confusion by trusting his own inner voice more. Meditation, the act of silencing the voices in our heads as well as silencing the outside world, always brings to the surface our own inner voice. It might take effort, it might take time, but it’s a method that will provide you with a clearer answer in the end than asking around for other people’s opinions on your given situation.

Instead of panicking when we don’t see clearly the path ahead, the best solution at times is just to sit down and not allow others to interfere with our decisions. It’s not easy because we often think other people know more than us, but remember that not one person has all the answers. Everyone is tainted by their own problems and programs, and their advice might not be the best one for you in the end.

Waiting for your answer can sometimes be an extremely enriching process. Waiting can be as productive as doing, you just have to believe that you will eventually encounter your true answer, the one that comes from the spirit. So next time you are feeling lost and confused, instead of turning to this person or that person, just give your spirit a chance to respond before all the others respond. You might be surprised by what you hear deep inside…
